Desirae is an avid yoga practitioner that believes in the technique and alignment of Iyengar tradition combined with the power of vinyasa flow. She began dancing ballet at the age of three and was accepted to the New York City ballet at the age of nine. Her parents denied her request to move to NYC at a young age, but she relentlessly pursued a practice of well being through daily physical exercise. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, she followed a creative marketing path and in 1993 opened her own graphic design studio called American Pie Design, Inc. To relieve stress she took her first yoga classes in 2001 and immediately knew that yoga was the path the healthy living. "It was the yoga that lead me down a path of well-being. I felt great, both physically and mentally." Desirae completed the 200-hour certification in Correlation Vinyasa Yoga and is a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E.R.Y.T.) with Yoga Alliance. She has completed level one and two with Baron Baptiste and is also a Certified Baptiste Yoga Teacher. In 2009 she plans on training with Jivamukti Yoga in New York. Desirae was also selected in August of 2007 by Lululemon as an ambassador for the Austin area. She is also sponsored by Manduka mat company and serves on Austin's Mayor Fitness Counsel.

Malia Scott, Senior Yoga Instructor
Student - Teacher - Designer - Marketer - Creator - Friend - Lover of Life
malia@breathandbodyyoga.com
Malia cannot express in words how yoga has changed her life. Not only
physically, but mentally and spiritually. Yoga, in general, is not just
about the physical asanas we do on our mat, it expands way beyond the
physical realms. Malia got into yoga when she was attending the University
of Texas at Austin seeking my BFA in Design Communications. She started with the
Bikram Beginning Hot Yoga.

about the physical asanas we do on our mat, it expands way beyond the
physical realms. Malia got into yoga when she was attending the University
of Texas at Austin seeking my BFA in Design Communications. She started with
Bikram’s Beginning Hot Yoga. After a few years of learning some of the basic
hatha postures in the heat, her body knew there was more adventure to
explore both physically, spiritually and mentally. A dear friend introduced
her to vinyasa yoga. Not only is vinyasa a style of yoga, but one that
mirrors life. Each day is new, each breath we take is new, each vinyasa on
our mat brings something new. Vinyasa yoga prepares you for the unexpected,
it teaches you to live in the present moment.
Malia's inspiration for teaching comes from an amazing community of teachers
and friends, a loving and support husband and family, and learning that if
you put your mind to something, doors will fly open for you.
Malia is a registered Vinyasa Yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance and is in
the process of completing her 500 hour E-RYT certification with Shiva Rae
and the Samudra Global School of Living Yoga. Her spiritual teacher is Jesus
Christ. Her yoga teachers include Baron Baptiste and Shiva Rae amongst many
others. Malia teach many different styles of yoga, including pre-natal yoga,
however her passion is teaching vinyasa yoga. Malia offers private and group
instruction in the local Austin area.

Ashley Hartley, Senior Yoga Instructor
ashley@breathandbodyyoga.com
Ashley walked into her first yoga class at Baron Baptiste's Power Vinyasa Yoga Institute in Cambridge, Massachutes during the fall of 2002. A decision that began with much uncertainty immediately changed her life. Growing up, Ashley was a competitive swimmer and softball for eleven years. With such an intense athletic background she expected the same physical results from yoga. In a short time she realized that yoga was unlike any practice she had ever been a part of.
"I have gained so much more from yoga than a physical transformation. Not only is this practice healing for the body, but also for the mind and the soul. My daily yoga practice has empowered me to approach life with love and joy. It has taught me how to reach deep within myself and find the Spiritual truth inside my heart. Part of my yoga practice means taking the lessons that I have learned on my mat and taking them out there into the real world where they become truly life-changing."
As Ashley continued practicing at Baron Baptiste's studios in Boston and Cambridge, she realized that she had a passion for teaching this inspiring practice of yoga. Ashley immediately began her training with Baron Baptiste, and she completed both Levels 1 and 2 of his teacher training in 2005.
Ashley graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and she immediately moved to Austin and began teaching yoga full time. She uses her psychology background and a strong involvement in Christianity as a foundation for her instruction.
Ashley continues her commitment to teaching in the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga style, and her goal is to empower her students lives through their own yoga practice. Ashley enjoys challenging her students and taking them to their edge. She is also committed to conveying the importance of alignment and modifications. Most importantly, she hopes that all of her yoga students will have fun, but also take what they learn and apply it to their lives off the mat.

Three years ago I took my first yoga class at Prana Yoga. The physical results were great, but it was the release of my emotions that struck me the most. Having battled with insecurities for most of my life, I was amazed at how strong and confident I felt. I was hooked.

Three years ago I took my first yoga class at Prana Yoga. The physical results were great, but it was the release of my emotions that struck me the most. Having battled with insecurities for most of my life, I was amazed at how strong and confident I felt. I was hooked. A month into my practice I knew I wanted to teach yoga. I wanted to give this incredible strength and confidence to other people. Two years into my practice I discovered Shiva Rae. Her beautiful style and passion for music drew me in. Little did I know how much more she really had to offer. I spent my summer studying with Shiva in California, embracing her style, her strength, her peace, and her ability and desire to ride the wave of life. She opened my heart and my mind and cleansed my inner being. I came back ready to share that with others. I look forward to my continued practice and growth and the growth of those I love.

Addrienne Amato, Senior Yoga Instructor

I began my journey with Yoga in the summer of 2003 in Denver, Colorado. I had just finished my Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. I felt that I was closing one chapter and looking for the next to begin. I was in that state of mind when you want to explore new possibilities and try something new.

I just so happened to live right down the street from one of Denver's Premier Yoga studios called Core Power Yoga. Within a week I was totally hooked. I had never experienced a form of physicality that was so much fun. And that is what yoga was to me in the beginning, a physical practice. A few months after I began practicing I was approached by one of the Studio managers about considering there teacher training program and I accepted the invitation. My first training was a 9-week course that consisted of a 200-hour program recognized by Yoga Alliance. This course used the Baptiste System as its template. Immediately after my completion of the course work I began teaching in the Denver studio. I started to feel like I needed more training and more knowledge of this system of Yoga, so I decided to go right to the source. I enrolled in the Level I Teacher Training Boot camp with the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute. This training consisted of 75 hours of course work in asana practice (the physical postures), meditation, practice teaching, philosophy and ethics. This experience not only changed my life but it is where I met my great friend and fellow yogi Desirae Pierce. The following year Desirae and I both completed the Level II training with BPYI. This training consisted of 112 hours of course work in asana, meditation, teaching methodology, philosophy and ethics. In this training we focused deeply on our own personal obstacles as teachers and students alike so we may teach from a more truthful place. I have recently completed a Masters Degree in Fine Arts at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. I look forward to teaching again on a consistent schedule in the near future as my studies have put this part of my life on hold. I look forward to the time shared in the practice studio between yogi's and yogini's. This is where we learn about not only the physical practice, but also the emotional, mental and spiritual characteristics in our lives. What we hope to achieve is integrating what we learn from our yoga practice in to the every day for a better quality of life. Baron Baptiste always says, "Together we go places we wouldn"t go on our own." So get out there and Practice!!!

Shana Logue, Yoga Instructor
shana@breathandbodyyoga.com
Shana has 10 years of experience as a fitness instructor. She has been practicing Baptiste style Power Vinyasa Flow for over five years and recently completed the BPYI Level 1 Teacher Training course in Hawaii.
My husband, Corby introduced me to heated yoga five years ago. After spending 10 years as a fitness instructor, exercising regularly and dieting, I still battled with the same 20 extra pounds, lower back pain and the same insecurities. Yoga has been a transformation for me. I used to push my way through a work out, push to comply with a diet plan, push to be a good wife, a good mother, and a professional. I was so stressed and wasn't sleeping well. I realized through yoga how tightly I was holding on to all of those things and learned how to let go.

Through yoga, I slowly started to unwind my mind and body and ultimately found myself lighter physically and mentally. Now, I am in the best physical condition of my life. My chronic lower back pain is almost nonexistent. I am a more relaxed and happy wife and mother.
Every day, I am thankful that I found yoga. I decided to become a teacher so that I could deepen my own practice and begin to share the power of yoga with others.

E. Cooper Seay R.Y.T. began practicing yoga in 1997, blessed by two integral yoga teachers who were both doctors of chiropractic; her first instruction was both spiritual and profoundly informed by the instructors' knowledge of the body. A lifelong athlete, Cooper became diverted by more physically challenging forms of hatha, going on to become a Bikram instructor. After four years of teaching an average of fourteen classes a week, running studios and eventually opening her own studio, she came full circle. Following her integral lineage she traveled to Kerala India to obtain her Sivananda teaching certificate. It was in the sivananda ashram that she was able to connect her earlier career as a musician with her yoga through both bhajan and kirtan. After completing a teacher training in bhava yoga, Cooper began her current path and passion, teaching vinyasa in the Krishnamacharya lineage.
Cooper's personal practice is defined by her love of vinyasa and her love of Iyengar. As counterpoint to her hatha yoga, Cooper practices vippasana meditation as taught by SN Goenka. As a teacher, Cooper strives to integrate the tappas of a strong practice with the santosha of a quiet mind. She is sensitive to the perils of strong physical work in a culture that is body obsessed, and believes that only through the eight-limbed path can we become free from internal friction. "The yoga shala is a laboratory, it is where we begin to observe our patterning. It is an amazing journey to become aware enough to observe, and in control enough to create more options for our behavior."
"...Each of us is here to discover our true Self, to find out on our own that our true Self is spiritual, that essentially we are spiritual beings that have taken manifestation in physical form. We're not human beings that have occasional spiritual experiences - it's the other way around: we're spiritual beings that have occasional human experiences."

Morgan Merritt, Yoga Instructor
morgan@breathandboddyyoga.com
Morgan Merritt began her yoga journey in 2000 with Bikram yoga, and she was immediately struck by the practice's connection of body and spirit. After practicing for one month, Morgan knew yoga would be a lifelong passion. The physical and mental practice of yoga helps her create greater awareness and balance in her life; and she believes that yoga connects us to ourselves and others.
She has practiced Bikram yoga; Ashtanga; and ultimately, she found inspiration in Power Vinyasa Flow yoga based on the teachings of Baron Baptiste, which she has been practicing for the past six years. In 2005, Morgan received her 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification in Vinyasa Flow.
On the mat, Morgan knows that practice is the best teacher, and she encourages others to fully surrender themselves to the journey of transformation, to have fun with their practice, and to develop mindfulness in all things.

Jennifer Elsner, Hatha Yoga & Restorative Instructor
jennifer@viewers-like-you.com
While maintaining deference to the sacred teachings of yoga, Jennifer's always evolving teaching style grows from her own experience of yoga. Listening to what is true for her, this moment, she allows the breath to move her into and out of asana. In turn she encourages her students to explore and develop the asanas for themselves and let the practice be an expression of where they are presently. Jennifer's classes are infused with reflections on yogic teachings, balancing pranyama and asana with the spiritual aspect of the practice. She encourages her students to always move from the heart and to recognize that everything... everything is auspicious.
