At Breath and Body Yoga, we believe in the transformational power of yoga. We are fiercely committed to empowering students, and teachers, to find inner strength, balance, and peace through physicality. We are determined to provide our students with the tools to utilize their bodies to their fullest potential and leave them in their greatness. We have established a clear, yet ever-evolving system which allows students to efficiently learn how to become mindful and aware of their bodies to unleash true physical power. The Breath and Body Yoga System guides students in the evolution of their yoga practice and influences their life off of the mat.  It is inspirational.  It is connective.  Physiologically speaking, we weave elements of Power Vinyasa Yoga with the natural curves of the spine called the Bowspring, an emerging alignment system to create a unique and powerful yoga practice. This system allows individuals to experience the body in a 360 degree, circumferential way. We are looking at the body energetically, as well as anatomically to consider our true bodily architecture and how we function in today’s world.

POWER VINYASA YOGA

We offer yoga classes in the Power Vinyasa Yoga tradition, linking powerful breath with the dynamic movements of the body using the Bowspring Alignment. This series of flow cultivates strength, flexibility, balance, focus and endurance. It is an energetic practice that tones the entire body as well as disciplining the mind. The room is gently warmed 80-90 degrees. Open to all levels of students, these classes will leave you feeling light and open to possibilities.

HIPS & HAMMIES

It’s often believed that open hips and open hamstrings are the key to having an open heart. This class is a fun variation on our signature Power Vinyasa that focuses on diving deep into opening and strengthening the often tight hips and hamstrings.

BOWSPRING

The Bowspring aligns the body in a position of readiness. It is an alignment for us to move with lightness and fluid power like a graceful animal. It is a natural curvy shape of the body that puts a spring in your step, and uplifts your mood. With this dynamically balanced posture, the breath can move freely without inhibition bringing a new level of vitality and energetic freedom.

FULL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 

BREATH AND BODY POWER VINYASA YOGA

This class links vitalizing breath with the mindful movements of the body to create a powerful flow. You will cultivate strength, flexibility, balance, focus and awareness. You will leave class feeling more mindful and revitalized. In every single class you will move through a series of strength building poses, balancing poses, backbends, and inversions. We offer modifications and intensifications during class to empower you no matter where you are in your practice. Get ready to take your practice to the next level as you discover your strength, challenge your boundaries, and awaken your spirit! Classes are gently heated 85-90 degrees.

This class is a fun variation on our signature Power Vinyasa that focuses on diving deep into opening and strengthening the often tight hips and hamstrings. Be prepared to open your body during this hip and hamstring focused flow that includes standing postures, balancing poses, inversions, and backbends. Class is heated to 88 degrees and deep, soulful music will accompany the flow.

 

STAND UP PADDLE BOARD YOGA (SUP YOGA)

SUP Yoga Classes are here. Are you ready to get wet, bask in the sun and float down the beautiful Lady Bird Lake? SUP Yoga is a great way to improve balance, gain core strength, and connect with nature and friends. This 90 minute class includes, paddling up to downtown from the Texas Rowing Center, 45 minute practice, 10 minutes of play time, 10 minutes of svasana and padding back. Our staff brings out the GoPro and also takes photos during this class as well.

Practicing yoga on a SUP brings a whole new perspective to being fully present in the moment Asanas (yoga postures) create a new challenge while floating, requiring full awareness, acceptance of mother natures mood and of course a sense of humor! Classes are held every Thursday, weather permitting at 6:30 at the Texas Rowing Center. (Pre-registration is required)

BOWSPRING

With this dynamically balanced posture, the breath can move freely without inhibition bringing a new level of vitality and energetic freedom. The Bowspring practice provides tremendous health benefits for body, mind, and heart. The Bowspring system is revolutionary to the standard model of static postural alignment.The standard model of anatomical neutral of the body is based on a static, resting position in an upright, stacked posture. In contrast, the Bowspring promotes a dynamic neutral position of the body - for the pelvis, lower back (waist), ribcage, neck and head. Instead of a static position in which the connective tissue is passively resting, the Bowspring alignment positions the connective tissue (myofascia) to evenly engage on all sides of the body - front, back, right and left - so there can be fluid movement with the minimum amount of force. 

This dynamic alignment is also a revolution away from our comfortable, sedentary lifestyle, which is mostly spent sitting in relaxed posture working at our desks, watching a screen, and talking on our phones. We have gotten out of attunement with our natural dynamic posture. Our modern misaligned form isn’t just taking a toll on our physical health; it desensitizes us and diminishes our capacity for feeling and thinking clearly. The Bowspring meme is a wave within the cultural revolution returning us back to embodying a naturally curvy posture.

POWER VINYASA YOGA FOR MEN

Men have been asking us for years for their own class. Now you have it. Yoga for men is designed for men by Wayne Baker. Our yoga will increase flexibility, establish mindfulness, and enhance your performance in all aspects of life. If you want to get healthy and live pain free, Power Vinyasa Yoga for Men is designed specifically for you. This is challenging class that consists of push ups, hip openers, core strengthening and inversions. Participants who want to advance will be challenged in a supportive, accessible and fun ways.

This is a non-heated 75-minute class series held each month at the Exposition studio. Wayne Baker is a 500-Hour RYT graduate from the Breath and Body Yoga. Wayne’s goal is to help you live a richer and more satisfying life and help you grow into the person you want to become. Perhaps you know exactly what’s not working for you at the moment, or maybe you are looking for more clarity about where and why you are stuck. The best moments for me are when you come to a place where you enjoy and accept yourself. I’m known for my warmth, honesty and good sense of humor and I have fun supporting people through their work of finding their own inner strength, power and compassion.

FAMILY FLOW FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN 7+

A family that practices together, stays together. We have been so inspired by those of you who are bringing your children to yoga, we’ve created your own class to practice together. Moms, dads and children seven years old and older are welcome to come practice on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 with Caitlyn Rose Clark. This is not your typical playful, dog barking kid yoga, this is Breath and Body Yoga designed for children and parents. Classes are 45-60 minutes long and incorporate sun salutations, warriors, twists, standing balancing poses, backbend, inversions and partner work to empower you and your family. Come play, come practice, come be a family together at Breath and Body Yoga.

CORPORATE YOGA PROGRAM

Our corporate program is offered in the quiet of your conference room, corporate gym or classroom setting. These classes are designed for individuals at any level of physical health, while dressed in a normal business attire. The sequence and poses are selectively chosen and developed to meet your specific needs. Learning and practicing postures and breathing exercises at your own pace and within your own range is the most effective way to realize the true power of yoga.
