TO FEEL IS TO HEAL: A BOWSPRING EXPERIENCE AUG 22-25TH

Breath and Body Yoga is honored to welcome the founders of the Bowspring, Desi Springer and John Friend on August 22-25th.

The Bowspring method is part of an emerging paradigm of alignment in functional movement, dance, yoga, and athletics that focuses on developing the natural curves of the body to maximize agility and empowered lightness, alleviating chronic pains. The Bowspring method incorporates precise, mindful movements in set sequences of dynamic postures with powerfully therapeutic breathing exercises.

 

After 20 years of yoga practice nothing has changed my life, my body, and my attitude, more than the practice of Bowspring. It looks different because it is different. Come discover your natural strength through your own curves. Explore sensitivity to access power and healing in a new way. This is a paradigm shift. This is the future of healing.

BOWSPRING MASTER CLASSES:

Join the founders of the Bowspring, Desi Springer and John Friend for a 75-minute group class. We will move, flow, breath and get our Bowspring on. These classes are open to the public and no experience is necessary.

THUR • AUG 22 // 4:30 - 5:45 pm Master Class with Desi Springer

FRI • AUG 23 // 4:30 - 5:45 pm Master Class with John Friend

BOWSPRING WORKSHOP PART 1:

The Power of Radiant Heart: Explore dynamic poses of the Bowspring method which help to open the ribcage on all sides giving buoyancy and agility to any functional movement. This helps us rebalance all of our daily postures and movements to prevent injuries and to maximize an experience of fulfillment. Radiant heart principles make it possible for anybody to reach their potential for harmonic proportion in their body alignment, presence of mindful and emotional resiliency and maturity. Radiant heart is an artistic expression of the purposefulness and meaningfulness of life.

BOWSPRING WORKSHOP PART 2:

Wavy Core Exercises: Bowspring addresses abdominal exercises and core strength through a new paradigm of biomechanical alignment that utilizes the inherent wavy strength of springy fascia that covers our bodies. Learn to shape, tone, and lengthen your midsection for the highest therapeutic approach for lower back pain and to build core power. Create a long, tapered belly by bowing our body, not by shortening and flattening it. An open, curvy and long belly facilitates emotional and psychic sensitivity and natural flow, whereas a chronically short, contracted belly and solar plexus inhibit our deeper feeling nature.

BOWSPRING WORKSHOP PART 3:

Side Spirals: Some of the most fun, edgy and complex poses in the Bowspring method are practiced using Side Spirals, which include a sequence of moving the body into 3 different directions at the same time in a spiral form. Side Spirals open all parts of the body – bowing the front of the body open, arching laterally to open the side body, and twisting in an upward spiral from the base of the ribs to the top of the head. As side-bending backbend twists, Side Spirals also open the mind and expand spiritual life force into every part of the body.

BOWSPRING WORKSHOP PART 4:

Hip Openers: Bowspring hip-openers provide all sides of the legs and hips with a new level of freedom and power. By treating the feet, legs, and hips as a singular sub-system of the whole body, the hips can have the healthiest alignment. The power to root down through the bottom part of the body gives maximum extension of the spine and the greatest capacity to jump, hop, and run. Bowspring hip-openers also help to reduce nervous energy, anxiety, and stress. As we are grounded in our daily posture through effective hip-openers, our confidence and self-empowerment grows and is elevated.

BOWSPRING WORKSHOP PART 5:

Seed Katas: This is the essential postural sequence of the Bowspring method that can be practiced every day by any level of student. The Seed Kata is a meditation in movement that requires presence of mind to maintain the Bowspring alignment within every key part of the body from the feet up to the head for several minutes at a time. This sequence includes all the main Level 1 poses, transitions and elemental forms for the hands and the feet within the Bowspring method. Regular practice of the Seed Kata offers the full benefits of the power of the Bowspring - pain relief, lightness, agility, and ideal body shape.
